ASCOT VALE TERRACOTTA RE-ROOF

Recently we completed a project for an Ascot Vale terracotta re-roof . The original terracotta roof tiles had become so old and brittle they were cracking easily, leaving the internal areas of the home at risk of severe water damage every time there was rain, and as we know in Melbourne, rain can be unpredictable and unforgiving.

 

 

Ascot Vale terracotta re-roof, what we did?

The first stage of a re-roof project involves a site visit. This is done so the owner can receive a comprehensive and accurate quote. The square meter area of the roof needs to be calculated taking into account all aspects of the roof such as roof pitch, gables, multiple levels, and weather new batons are required. The type of roof tile the owner would like the roof replaced with needs to be discussed as this can alter the cost (ie new or secondhand). In this case the owner wanted a tile of similar colour and similar profile to the original tiles (we used new Monier, modern French, Marseilles profile in earth colour). After the quote had been accepted a start date was arranged. Before any roofing work could commence safety rail was erected, roof tiles were ordered and a rubbish skip positioned on site. We then proceeded to remove the old roof tiles and replace them with new roof tiles in sections. This was done to ensure the roof was not left exposed to the elements for long periods. Once the entire roof had been replaced with new roof tiles we then cemented in the ridge capping tiles into position and applied flexipoint to secure them. After any good roofing project or repair, the gutters were then cleaned of any debris to allow the free flow of water during rain.  The site was then cleaned and all rubbish removed.
